Mmm, the fandom in general is very preoccupied with how victuuri is "pure", "soft" and "healthy", frequently in contrast to dirty fetishizing yaoi. There is also a loud faction that is very preoccupied with making sure everyone knows that otayuri is pedo/child abuse/ew only yaoi fangirls would ship age gap pairings. Thanks to all the otayuri wank, they're one of the centers of the anti/purity cult.

There was some overlap between YOI and Killing Stalking fandom at some point as well, which brought on a lot of hysteria about how dare the nasty yaoi fangirls like the beautiful representation that YOI. The recent shenanigans might well be an aftershock of that.
