I'm so confused how you would even know this. Was there an interview or something?

Maybe they... watch the show? And like... notice that the presenters aren't tasting most of the baked goods? Because they're watching the show?

No but seriously. It's all over the news in the UK about Noel Fielding not eating most of the bakes because he doesn't want to put on weight.

I don't watch the show so correct me if I'm wrong, but the secret maker said they're not judges, so does it really matter if they don't taste a lot/everything? I mean, if I'm on a show with 20 (for example) contestants, I'm not going to eat 20 things every episode. I'd weigh a tonne.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-04 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
It matters because they're new hosts and people are still salty about the old hosts leaving.

In the secret, OP says that they think tasting the food is important to their role as "morale boosters" who give an "'everyman' opinion on each result."

(Anonymous) 2017-11-04 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh... I'm on the fence about that opinion. I agree that presenters can be there for morale boosting an being an 'everyman' to the contestants, but I don't think they need to try every single dish from every constant to achieve that result.

I don't know. A major part of the morale issue is that the bakers will regularly get a disappointing result - or at least, disappointing feedback from the judges. It's hard to reassure someone that no, no, their cake is just fine if you haven't actually tasted it.

Depends on how bad the cake is, I guess. Imagine if the presenters had snuck a bite of the cake and then had to paste a smile on and say no, it's just fine, when in actuality it tastes like feet.

I watch the show too? Did mel and sue try every single bake on camera? If they did I certainly never noticed.

Is it so weird that I assumed that OP didn't pay an especial amount of attention to how many shots of eating went into the final edit, and instead might be referring to an actual news story in which someone talked about them not trying everything. Not a joke that Noel made in august.

Watching the show wouldn't be that helpful if they don't always use shots of every time they taste things in the actual episode. Those moments can get cut for time/lack of interest.
