Incitement? you gotta go a long way to call that incitement. It was, at worst, good natured ribbing. As pretty clearly evidenced by the fact that feminists in the thread were joking along with me and ribbing me right back. I've had much more controversial and aggressive discussions here when I wasn't saying something stupidly un-PC to get a laugh.

I mean, it's your show here, but I think you're wrong on this one. I think the joke was pretty obvious and pretty much universally got by everyone. No-one was incited, or even in danger of being incited.

I did read the thread and people were playing along with you, it's true.

But I don't agree that "it was just a joke, man, and everyone (who responded) totally got it" is a valid defense of posting that kind of thing. Would it not have been okay if people did not get it? So the only way to find out whether it's fine or not is to post things that might piss people off if misunderstood, then see if it does or not? I hope you get where I'm coming from.

I dunno, I think context matters, and the context of that statement was, I think, pretty clear to any reasonable reading, utterly non-offensive.

Like, i think it's possible it could have offended someone who didn't really understand what I was playing at, but that it true of the most benign statement anyone can make. you can, and will, always offend someone with literally anything. I think the measure should be less "Can someone fail to get what I'm doing and be offended" because the answer to that is always "Yes", and more "Is it reasonable that a person would read this and get offended" and there I gotta say probably not.

Yeah, it's your show delete shit as you see fit and all that, but I gotta say, while I see where you're coming from, I respectfully disagree.
