Lolz to all the AD fans getting their panties in a twist.

I don't like the show, either, but god forbid you mention that around people or they jump all over you. :(

mrbnatural is my fave so far.

The best ones, though, are the self-righteous ones who will get on your case about talking smack over a show you hate, what a waste of time/you have no life oh noes. Because reading fandom!secrets is somehow on par with visiting your family or volunteering at a homeless shelter. haterz 2 da left goes both ways, bbs!

I don't have a problem with militant fans as long as they have a sense of humor. Most of the AD fans who responded do seem to have that sense of humor, but some, clearly do not (or chose not to display it).

After being badgered into watching some episodes of Firefly (hours of my life that I'll never get back), I became very suspicious of shows that developed wildly fanatical fanbases. While I'm not really a sitcom person (I haven't watched one regularly in almost 15 years)and AD's time slot was never good for me, I might have given the show a chance, given its general favorable reception, but all the AD fans I encountered were from the Browncoat school of badgering and insulting non-believers.

Just a few months ago, I had occasion to watch a few episodes of the show, and I enjoyed it very much. I'll probably see the movie, and if the fans I encountered hadn't been almost uniformly jerkish towards those who weren't willing to name the show the greatest thing ever ever (yeah, I know that at some philosophical level it is terrible for me to judge a show and a fanbase by a non-random sample), I probably would have started watching the show while it was still regularly airing.

It wasn't the disliking AD that irritated me. I mean, yeah, I like it, but that doesn't mean everybody else has to. What annoyed me was that the OP said he didn't like the fans, and I've never understood why everyone will always take out their hatred of something on the people who enjoy it. I think it's immature and pathetic. I mean, go ahead and hate the show, no one's stopping you. But don't automatically write off everyone who watches it as someone you can't be personable around.

imho I doubt that person is hating the fans because s/he hates the show. It's likely to be the other way around, considering there is a vocal and aggressive contingent who can and does jump on anyone who doesn't like the show. Just look at the other responses to the comment.

Well, don't jump on everyone about it. Just dismiss those people. I just hate generalization. I tend to get a bit defensive, I know, but still. It wouldn't kill the OP to stick a "most of" in there. :/
