Also, some of us ship because of potentially interesting dynamic, not because there are hints in canon. Sometimes there's both, and that's awesome, but generally I like certain personality types together.

Anyway. Just curious — are you sure you're not using "potentially interesting dynamic" as an excuse to get what you want? It's an easy shield that most people write off and say, "Oh, okay, that's cool," but I typically see it as a means to get around things and still have them remain "acceptable" all while satisfying the shipper's own desires. (This only truly applies when the shippers involve sex into the equation, though... because, really, that's what it typically looks like they wanted all along.)

I don't quite understand what you mean here. "Potentially interesting dynamic" (among other criteria) isn't an excuse, it's more of a catalyst.
I mean, I like love stories. I especially like love stories that are only a part of a plot about something else, fantasy, sci-fi or murder mysteries in particular. The dynamic I prefer is most often when they are opposites where one is logical and calculating and the other is passionate and impulsive. I also like them to be on the same level, in that they have equal opportunities of awesome. And, of course, have character development.
It's not that I have ships for everything I watch or read, and I usually only have one or two for every fandom I'm in.
As for sex, well, in pairing fic it's often used as a tool to show closeness and love. That's not to say that I never read porn, but I'm not looking for it in my shipping fics. Sometimes I do read porn with pairings I'm a fan of, but in those cases I still read them for the sake of the porn.
