I don't want to blame the victims here but if someone told me to give them blackmail material in case they wanted to blackmail me later my response would not be "Sure!" But if they already put their trust in this person I guess I can see it.

Isn't that basically what David Cameron did with that dead pig? Ensuring that everyone who knew about it had blackmail material?
