It wasn't even really a love Triangle. Setev pretty much figured it out and even though he kind of tried, he gave up really early because he wanted Nancy to be happy.

But I agree on the missed opportunity of them being an awesome team.

They still kind of built it up a little, even if it came to nothing. Im glad it came to nothing and Steve wasn't a dick about it, but it still annoyed me that the show acted like it was going to be a big deal.

I came to the comments to say this. If that's what passes for a love triangle these days, the love triangle trope has really been watered down. There was no hostility between the boys, and they were very clearly not competing for Nancy. I'm sure they were both aware that Nancy herself had feelings for both of them, but they really behaved remarkably well in S2, in terms of not acting like jealous douchebags about it. Hell, Steve even asked Jonathan to take Nancy home from the party, and Jonathan even gently suggested Nancy make up with Steve after they'd basically broken up.
