Girlfriend? I thought he was married?

(Anonymous) 2017-11-11 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Not OP, but I know he's been married in the past, so maybe he is not currently married anymore but is involved with someone??

(Anonymous) 2017-11-11 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Amicable divorce from his former wife in 2016, started dating Argento this year.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-11 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
I thought he was gay.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-11 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
He was but they broke up a couple of years ago?...now he's with Asia.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-11 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with you. I feel like he's appointed himself as Messiah of women.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-11 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
WE nominated Whedon as the "savior of feminism". WE the fans did that. We were the ones who gave him too much credit and called him a genius and a god while ignoring women who worked just as hard at the same things. And gave him all the credit for successful projects when everything was going well, somehow coming to believe he was not a flawed human who might someday disappoint.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-11 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
THIS. Whedon never said or did anything to promote himself in these terms. He never claimed to be anything to feminism. All he did was espouse feminism and support feminism in the ways he saw fit to do so.

I...don't get what you're saying at all. This is the public parlance right now, where creep after creep is getting publically called out because people keep coming forward and are finally being taken seriously. You think just cause Bourdain's famous it's not okay for him to say "wow, that guy's a piece of shit" on twitter just like all of us are doing? It's not ~declaring yourself anything to just have an opinion, and this topic is literally what EVERYONE is talking about.

"I...don't get what you're saying at all."

Well, that's true. I don't see anything in the secret where OP says Bourdain shouldn't criticize sexual predators because he's famous. You pulled that out of thin air.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-11 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
He has been - I would say - markedly vociferous and forthright on the topic.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-11 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
Personally, I appreciate the hell out of men who are vocal about issues like this, and who take a strong stance against these sexual predators and the culture that supports them.

I mean jesus, we talk and talk about wanting men to speak up and take a stand, and about how frustrating and angering it is that they don't...but then we take issue with it when they do speak up and take a stand, because they're men and it's "not their place." What the fuck? I'm as feminist as they come, but really, truly, that seems like a damned if you do/damned if you don't situation for men.

Seconded hard.
