I think him saying he was going home to his wife was part of why I didn't understand it. I am certain this is the version of the film we saw in cinema and that I always knew he had a wife. But of course my brother swears we saw the Mrs Peacock ending and my father says we saw Miss Scarlett and my mother says we've never seen the film...
