Why is Luke "never coming back" for Rey? Why assassinate the character of Star Wars' favorite Jedi?

I saw Maz's speech as yet another vaguely dharmic religionbabble in the series. So other possibilities include:
1. Rey is the new chosen one of prophesy.
2. Rey is the karmic rebirth of Anakin (or perhaps Padme).
Either way, I see little point in stanning for a plot reveal that hasn't happened yet.

1. We can't speculate on the motives of characters who have not been introduced and may not even exist. And...
2. Luke's entire story arc involved healing the broken father/son relationship. So for him to repeat the same mistake would be highly OOC.
Granted, throwing six movies of relationship development into the trashcan likely wouldn't be the worst dramatic sin Disney does with the franchise, but still...
