The good ol' anime fandom bait and switch

I know your pain. I will never get over the complete bullshit that was the end of Samurai Flamenco. I don't care what the creators say, that was a fucking proposal :|

It's not the ending that's the problem, it was the producer (or whoever, I forget exactly) going all "no homo" about it in interviews. There's nothing actually in the series to contradict the idea that samflam and goto-san got together :)

Man... that is an awesome image, and a bi lead would have been awesome to see. Especially in an action anime.

It's never going to happen. Face it, mainstream audiences don't want to see that. Oh sure, the straights love their fanservice yaoi & yuri subtext that they can jack off to, but whenever there's even a hint of non-subtextual canon homo-or-bisexuality they'll shit bricks with rage and bend over backwards trying to deny that it's there.

Pretty sure the people into gay ships in anime and the ones shitting bricks over actual gay content are not the same group.

I wish that too, OP. But even series that seem to be going that way tend to do the good ol' bait-and-switch (Genshiken I am looking at you). So maybe some day, OP.

oh my god, Genshiken Nidaime still makes me SO MAD. Sometimes I still can't believe it tbh. Like, I'm usually pretty realistic about "your queer ship will not happen in this show/anime" and just ship away without being bothered by canon, but I was so damn sure that this time it would happen that everything got ruined in my mind when it didn't. Promptly deleted everything from my laptop and never looked back beyond sudden feelings of rage and disappointment from time to time.

You did well. The spin-off (Spotted Flower, I think?) was more infuriating in having Madarame cheat on his wife (after giving birth) with Hato (who is now a woman) because he got jealous of her ex-boyfriend visiting the hospital because why the hell not. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It's like the author is actively trying to bombard his own series.

....I'm going to go drink until I can erase this information from my mind and return to the days of not knowing that happened.

Cybersix has a bisexual love triangle with two people. It probably doesn't count, but the heroine's secret identity is a male teacher, and it's pretty clear that a fellow teacher is in love with both "Adrian" and Cybersix herself.
