I wouldn't necessarily say he's a bro, and I'm not super familiar with One Direction, but just compare a google image search of him to, say, Lee Hongki. I just think that the image of Kpop stars tends to be less masculine in the Western sense, and the aesthetic definitely includes more makeup and elements of cuteness and whatnot.
