Re: Which fictional character deserved better?
Harry Kim deserved better, too, but I'm pretty sure the fabric of the universe depends on him being unsuccessful in love, eternally unpromoted and occasional collateral damage. If he were to find lasting love, respect and success, the universe would dissolve. I don't know why, but I'm fairly certain it's Q's fault. Poor Harry.
Tasha Yar, too. Yeah, she was a flawed character, but it was the first season of TNG, which was a flaw in and of itself! And then it turns out that an alt-universe version of her gets captured and made into a sex slave, is killed trying to escape and then her own fucking look-alike daughter has the GALL to say it was her own fault for being so "ungrateful" as to want to get away from the man who raped her on a regular basis and forced her to carry his child. Fuck. That. Shit.
All of the main characters in FFXIII deserved better, but Fang and Vanille in particular deserved more.
Roxas, Xion, Ventus, Aqua, and Terra all deserve a happy ending after all of the shit they've been through. It's like the keyblade is an angst-magnet or something, which does not bode well for Kairi and Axel/Lea. Oh, and Namine deserves better, too.
Skjor (from Skyrim) deserved a funeral of the same caliber as Kodlak's, but it was like he was just an afterthought for every Companion except Aela.
