It's got a lot to do with her always apologizing and getting weepy over poor results, sometimes even before the judges had tasted anything! The judges even gently admonished her for it at one point, though it didn't stop her from doing it again. You know how sometimes people can be so self-deprecating that it becomes tedious? It's because they're making their own emotional well being everyone else's burden, over and over again.

She was always saying everything she made was so awful, even when it wasn't. She seemed like one of those people who is always dragging you into her pity party.

Candice's weird twitchy lip thing drove me nuts, but Ruby was definitely more annoying to me. If she said "It's been a hard week at school" once more, I was going to scream. Did she think everyone else was lounging at home? No! They had jobs and kids and school or whatever, and no one else was piling on the excuses.

Exactly. I thought she was a tolerably good baker but every time her bake didn't turn out well she felt the need to make excuses! You rarely see that on Bake Off from most bakers. People either accept that they messed up, they didn't practice enough or that sometimes shit happens.
