Now I'm curious. Going to look this up!

You should write it anyway.

I haven't read this in years, but I don't remember the villain(s) at all. From what I remember it would make a fun TV series, though.

Yay someone else has read these! I would also be down for a nice TV show although I don't ship anything but the Canon pairings in this series

I haven't read this, but I like what I've read from Caroline Stevermer so I should check it out

It is a shame, in general, how much stuff like that doesn't really have a fandom at all. Fantasy books that are a little older, and that aren't massive high fantasy epics, and that are maybe a little more feminine-coded.

Hi. Is there potential for some femslash here too?

If you don't mind Kate and Cecelia being cousins.

Book fandoms are a thing...

(Anonymous) 2017-11-18 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure... for classics like Sherlock Holmes, Tolkien or Jane Austen, or for more recent popular books like Harry Potter, ASOIAF, Twilight, etc. But for relatively obscure YA from the late 80s, early 2000s? Not so much.

Wow, never thought I'd see a secret for this book. I'd be all over an adaptation too, though I didn't ship anything beyond the main canon pairings. You should write your villain/heroine fic anyway, though! Book fandoms need more love.

I don't know how well it would work as an adaptation since the main stories are so separate. (For those who haven't read it, it was written by two authors exchanging in-character letters.)

(Anonymous) 2017-11-19 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
How is that a problem, though? Movies involve characters who have separate storylines all the time. I can't actually think of a movie where the entire cast is in the exact same place for the whole entire thing.
