I think pugs and bulldogs and other brachycephalic dog breeds are ugly, not ugly-cute, and it's cruel to breed dogs (and other domestic animals) to a designer shape when it means they'll be more prone to serious health problems. And I think pet breeders should be required to spay/neuter all the animals they don't want cluttering up their bloodlines and adopt them out; culling should be illegal.

I think anyone who doesn't like those breeds OR is a breeder thinks that.

I agree that breeding dogs in a way that causes health problems is fucked up and wrong

I don't think that's the fault of the breeds though, and I do find them cute personally

I think breeding should be much more tightly controlled if not entirely outlawed. There are more bad breeders than good. Adopting pets is so much better. There are so many animals out there that need a home. Purebreeds have more health issues and are treated horribly.

I agree on all points. Pugs/bulldogs are absolutely ugly. I feel bad for them, so they invoke that sense of pity, but I'm boggled by the notion that anyone could find such deformity cute. And I agree, they should be discontinued as breeds via neutering.
