I can sooort of see it in the sense of like 'I am deeply invested in this particular emotional connection and want to spend fannish time/attention/energy on it and stories about it etc'. That to me feels like what "shipping" is, as opposed to just like....watching the show and observing that yes they're friends and thinking that's great and wishing they'd work things out.

Otoh, if this is ONLY ship you like, and you don't want it to be romance either, like....maybe you're just not a shipper, and that's okay.
