Anyway I really haven't done fandom in a major way since, and I have no regrets about that, at least. I had to leave it because it wasn't making me happy, it was making me angry / hurt / stressed. And I found other things to do and my life improved in some ways!

So yeah. I'd say if fandom is affecting you, it's not necessarily YOU, sometimes it's just an unfriendly fandom. But get out anyway. Nobody else can protect your mental health or make the call for you.

But hobbies shouldn't make us miserable. There are other things we can do with the energy we put into fandom. Find the thing that can currently make you happy, when interacting or even existing in fandom spaces makes you miserable.

It's better to start fresh and try new things that just wallow in misery!
