The secret was about that bag specifically, I used the word 'fandom' too generally.

I don't care about showing fandom (the background of my phone is fandom-related, I don't really carry much else that could be), but hentai? No.

It's one thing to publicly flaunt a fandom, it's another thing entirely go effectively announce to the world that you watch porn. Talk about socially unacceptable at best. Yeah, I've seen Bible Black etc, but that doesn't mean I'm enough of a socially retarded jackass to go around flaunting the fact that I'm a huge perv, especially not in a public area like a shopping mall. Geez.

If my incredibly sheltered, borderline senile grandmother knows what hentai is and what it equates to, I think the term is significantly more widespread than you may think.

Hell, I knew what hentai was before I knew what anime was, as a kid.

Hardly seems like the obnoxious announcement you're making it out to be though. It's a cute visual gag and not at all explicit in how it's worded. It's not like someone's carrying a sandwich board around saying "I LOVE BACK-DOOR SLUTS 9 ASK ME WHY."
