I'm not sure about them sucking, but I've never been able to penetrate the Star Trek/Star Wars/Harry Potter/LOTR fandoms, and I feel so left out. I've tried to like them, I really have, they look like fun and the majority of my friends are massively into at least two of them. I just can't.

I've told myself I don't even fit in with nerds because I'm not into Star Wars, Harry Potter, anime, superhero anything or video games.

I think the thing I resent most about those fandoms if the way people automatically assume you're into them, then freak out when you say you're not. Like it's a crime. We got the flash new collectors' editions of the Harry Potter books at work, and my colleague straight away starts asking 'which Hogwarts house is my favourite.'
