Try a little harder.

Edit: You know what, I don't care that if you're trolling, I'm sick of this. I'm as glad as anyone that these disgusting men are finally being called out and punished, but the people trying to turn it into some sort of battle of the sexes or "all men are shit, women should rule the world" need to stop.

Not all men are scum. My dad who treated my mother like a fucking queen before she abandoned us is not scum. My dad who put us through college after and raised us all by himself is not scum. My older brother who always looked out for me, protected me and wanted the best for me is not scum.

This is about individual men who have abused their power, wealth and status, and have ruined lives through it. Do you have a father? A brother, an uncle, a male friend? Better cut all contact with them quick, because apparently only people with vaginas can be good people.

If the person is not trolling, I hope she doesn't have any men in her (I'm guessing it's a woman) life. Sometimes I read feminists talking about men and I honestly wonder if they've even met an actual man in their lives and not just an 80s teen movie stereotype.

I’m not the anon you’re reacting to, but I identify as a feminist and my dad was a paranoid schizophrenic drug addict who was once arrested for diving through a (female) acquaintance’s front window armed with an illegally-modified assault rifle loaded with armor-piercing rounds, and my maternal grandfather was a child molester who raped his wife and kids, so I never knew my maternal grandmother because she drank herself to death before I was born, and my mom and her oldest brother drank themselves to death rather than deal with their abuse in a healthy way. I don’t think all men should die, but I could easily see why someone would post that. Especially if they were raped or assaulted by several men over their lifetime, which unfortunately happens.

I'm a woman, and my abusers were women, and I really have a hard time not to see every other woman as the enemy now. I managed to find a few honest friends and I'm grateful for that, but every time someone on the internet comes with this all-women-walk-on-water let-the-women-rule-the-world stuff I just want to puke.

Eh, no. The "Oh I've had bad experiences with members of a certain group therefore everyone from that group is evil" only works if that group is "men". I, for example, have only been sexually harrassed by Arabic and Turkish guys - those are the biggest minority groups where I live. But saying that I'm generally more wary of men from those backgrounds would get me down to the "omg racist" track fast.

AYRT—and I’ve been sexually harassed by lots of men, but only groped or otherwise physically assaulted by black men (who are a minority where I am) and white women (I am one and we’re definitely not a minority of the population here.) If the anons calling for the deaths or castration of all men were saying this shit in real life I would have a problem with it, but I think they’re just venting and/or trolling and being gross.

I mean, I definitely think they’re wrong and that a) not all men are rapists and some women are and b) rapists should go to prison for a long damn time. But I don’t think engaging with the “all men are rapist scum” crowd to tell them they’re wrong is useful. If you were calling for the deaths of all Arabic and Turkish men because of your past experiences, I’d probably assume you were a troll and ignore you too, tbh.
