Eurotrash Cartoon Anon wishes their favourite series had a proper active fandom with open discussions.

Serial killers and true crime. I want to talk about it with people without people thinking I am a future serial killer myself.

Being into true crime is one of the only things me and my best friend have in common, lol. I keep trying to get her to listen to crime podcasts but she's not a podcast person, which is where our interests just instantly diverge yet again :P

Me too! What did you think of Mindhunter on Netflix?

Me too. I'm really into true crime, and also horror movies/books and just scary/creepy/disturbing stuff in general. I mentioned watching a movie about a serial killer to someone recently and was told I was "warped" and needed help.

Pretty much anytime I drive past a remote, heavily wooded area, I always wonder if there are any bodies there. I mentioned this on a road trip recently while driving past one of those areas and...did not get a good reaction lol. I don't know a single person who's into this kind of stuff, and the people who know I am just think I'm a total weirdo.

I hear you. There's a sizable community of true crime/serial killer/unsolved mystery fans on reddit, but... yeah, it's reddit.

Being too much into true crime is suspicious imo

There's a lot of true crimes discussions on Reddit, and on every true crime podcasts subreddits. People talk about true crime a lot.

AGENTS OF FUCKING MAYHEM.

How am I the only one into this fucking game. Serisouly! It's a saints row semi-followup, based on 90 saturday morning cartoons, with a pretty big cast of unique characters, and is chocked to the gills with waifu's and husbandos. C'mon people get your heads in the game!

I hate that I can only talk about Old Hollywood with people over 70.

One Piece

I have a couple irl friends who are into it but they're behind and frankly believe every fanon thing they see on the internet without reason. Online, I had two people to talk about it regularly. One got into Dr. Who instead, the other just vanished off the internet.

from the secrets here I feel like I'm not going to agree meta-wise with most people who fandomsecret and like OP.

I love One Piece! Though admittedly I am behind. I get frustrated when the updates become sporadic again, so I usually wait until 20-30 chapters have been released to catch up in one go.

In what way?

My ships. My best friends, bless them, are very patient and listen to all my theories and gripes, but I kinda wish I had someone to talk to in real life about them who I could bounce ideas off of.

Fandom sorting that isn't just Hogwart houses.

My ships

Just headcanons in general.

Mythology with people who share similar interpretations of the characters.

Speculative evolution/biology

Sam/Steve, being an ACOA, and Catch-22.

I love Steve/Sam. Steve/Bucky/Sam is my OT3 but I really adored Steve and Sam's relationship in TWS. They did such a good job of making an instant connection between them so I absolutely bought that Sam would help Steve and Natasha later on.

Doctor Who definitely. 12 is my new favourite Doctor - and likely always will be - but I don't think I know anyone IRL who even still watches the show. :(

Sociology of media and fandom that doesn't turn kneejerk Social Justice Warrior-esque.

"This fandom is very het oriented, I wonder why that is?" "BECAUSE EVERYONE IN IT IS A RACIST HOMOPHOBIC BIGOT RAR!"

But I like speculating on... ok, one of the fandoms I'm in is strangely tiny for what it is, and very uncreative and what little creativity there is is for canon-compliant het. And I think part of the reason is in the early days one of the big BNFs was a guy who was very disdainful of creative fanworks and pushed that the best way to be a Real Fan was to write meta and make gifsets. That when you got too far from canon then what was the point? If you were a Real Fan you'd be happy with just endlessly chewing over what canon gave you and not venturing too far. So no outright anti behavior, but canon-compliant stuff got boosted by him and all his followers, and creative stuff got ignored or sealioned by dozens of comments along the lines of "Why did you draw them with wings? They don't have wings." "Why would you ship him with him they're not gay?" "I don't think he and she are going to end up together in the show." And I think that stunted the fandom.
