I don't think replacing makeup regularly is a bad thing, regardless of whether or not you ran out.

Yeah, fresh makeup is nice. I'm not someone who is the least bit concerned about expired makeup, though. I've been using all kinds of makeup for twenty years now and I've never had an eye infection, nor do I suffer breakouts or skin irritation. I keep my makeup until it's used up, or until it very obviously dries out. In rare cases where I end up with a ten-year-old piece of makeup or something, then I'll throw it out.
