Broaden that out a bit and you've got mine: the fact that Instagram makeup is trending heavily towards drag-inspired looks which look almost uniformly terrible on women.

Yeah like I don't want to be too negative bc women having fun with makeup is cool, you know? But drag makeup is designed a) to be seen from far away under stage lighting and b) designed to work on men's faces (so, angular faces with big noses, sharp jawlines, cheekbones, etc.). It's not even designed to *look good* most of the time, just over the top.
