It's doubtful that I'd be paid a fee for my particular field. If we lived in a society where all my housing, bills, and a basic income was given to me, then yes, I would probably create things just for the enjoyment of it. But we don't and most likely never will.

But most creative endeavours require time, skill, and materials, just like woodworking or building a house. I don't see why creators should be expected to give those things away.
