What does your ideal Christmas look like?

(Anonymous) 2017-11-26 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd kind of like to stay home, cook whatever I want and not see anybody. You?

One where I decorate the entire house and have a nice meal at one of those long tables in a penthouse in New York with all the people I like.

Long cozy day with my gf, gf’s siblings, and nobody I’m related to.

My "ideal" Christmas is pretty much what it will be, which is all day at my parents' house with them and my siblings and the dogs, exchanging gifts and and having a nice dinner. Though I'm not sure what we're doing for dinner this year since the family friends we usually eat with are going to be out of town. I guess it'll just be us, and maybe we'll do something different and nontraditional, which can be fun. We may invite a couple of my late granddad's friends, though, since they may be lonely.

I want to go and see my parents for the holidays, but damnit I don't want to celebrate Christmas at all. Can't we have a nice vacation without all the chrismassy shenanigans?

Stay at home curled up on the sofa with a book or watching a film with my bf and cats.

Pretty much what it will be.

On Christmas Eve we're going to this fancy restaurant for lunch, then going back to my parents' house to hang out until dinner. My dad wants to watch the Hobbit movies so we'll probably put those on while my mom and I make appetizers/desserts. Then my dad's putting some meat on the grill, then we'll have dinner. We don't go too crazy with gifts so that part will be pretty low-key. I probably will hang out with them a couple more hours after we eat, then head home.

Christmas Day I'm just staying home and relaxing, and I'm also off work on Tuesday so that should be nice. :)

I just want it to be cold. We haven't had a cold Christmas here for about four years. I want a cozy Christmas with fuzzy sweaters and big blankets and lots of tamales.

Um....the one that happened long about...1977? Old enough to really get into it, young enough to really, really enjoy it, all my family there.

This, and the only way I can get it is if we get a massive ice storm. It's mainly because my sister and bro-in-law are getting a super nasty spite divorce and he's going to be in town over Christmas. So, it's going to be potentially awkward and might end up with someone dead, because 5 out of 6 persons think he's gonna murder-suicide the family.

COME OOOOOON MASSIVE ICE STORM.

My complete ideal? A tree with pretty blue, silver and white decorations. two cats, two dogs enjoying themselves with some Christmas treats. My whole family. My mom's Christmas morning coffee cake. Mulled cider. Christmas music playing. Snow outside.

My absolute ideal would be in the northern hemisphere, but barring that, a moderately temperature'd day, and lots of roast turkey, potatoes and gravy.

Just gimme my shit so I can go back home. I love my family, but I work nights and having to be at family places at 8 or 9 am cuts into my sleep really badly. After all the get togethers, by 2 pm, I'm trying not to fall asleep on my feet and when I get home, I end sleeping till 10 pm, missing out on the entire day.
