Yes, the Marauders' generation is consistently made out to be/seem older than they actually were. The movies do it, and fanfics do it (I spend a lot of time groaning at authors who either make James+Lily super smart and competent and basically saints, OR have aaaalll the characters criticize their lack of smarts and competence when it came to their final decisions, and I'm like "They're 21! I was an idiot when I was 21! 21 is not an age where you're suddenly the adultest adult to ever adult and know everything like your mom does, actually you're just pretending to be an adult while slowly coming to realize that apparently adultness doesn't magically happen after all and you're actually screwed.")

What bothered me the most, tho, was the casting choises of Harry's parents. Seriously, you cast 50+ year old people to play 21 year olds? They look damn old, no matter what you do! I mean, I get what they were likely doing, people are supposed to look at them and go "Yeah, obviously Harry's parents" and not "What, they look barely older than Harry, can't be his parents, wth??" but as far as I know /that's rather the point/. They died damn young. It's tragic. But apparently it's more important that they look properly parent-y than them looking their age. But I'm bothered that they look old enough to be their own parents rather than Harry's.
At least Sirius, Remus, Snape etc. were 31-37 yo when they interacted with Harry, as in lived long enough to grow old enough to look like credible adults, so they're more understandable.
