This probably doesn't count as a literary classic but I had to read it for school so...

Dune. I fucking hate religious bullshit in my sci-fi.

I like fictional religion in my scifi but Dune's didn't make sense. Also, the book was so slow paced and all the characters so, so dull and boring. The only part I enjoyed was the apendix about terraformation.

I agree about fictional religion. That can be really awesome and I like that in a lot of my sci-fi and fantasy. Dune was just a bludgeon. It was a slog to read.

I've never been able to read Dune. I don't know if I hate it, I just don't get it, or I resent it for being an ex's favorite book that he would hound me about reading.
