I live in France, so yeah - lotsa hype, very interesting to see non-kiddie animation get made *well* - though the crowdfunding didn't carry them quite as far as hoped, iirc.
I appreciate it, but am a bit conflicted, because one of the main creators is a self-indulgent, over-hyped, puerile misogynistic troll.
Drawing gigonormous boobies all the time, and dubcon erotica... eh, stuff can still pass as artistic self-expression. Added to the body of his work, which besides being generally misanthropic constantly has female characters as incomprehensible and fickle (played for romance in a few of his early works, where the teenage male POV - literally done in one case - could kinda justify the feelings of confusion faced with mysterious Girl behavior, but... it adds up a bit much), and his overt anti-feminist trolling online - yeah I am soured.

(also Lastman got a lot of raving articles and reviews claiming it was the first French manga - and while, yeah, sure, they played up the shounen tourney tropes and published in a similar format, um, no, there's been several all-but-shoujo series already, but girly stuff don't count ne?)
