It does, but it's still creepy. If 18-year-old Emma Watson, as 15-year-old Hermione, acted in a sexy fantasy for a teacher, we'd all be pretty creeped out.

That seems like a really bad example, though, because Hermione/Snape is in fact a really popular ship.

I can't think of a worse example, to be honest.

to be fair, OP seems to be kind of talking about both fic and canon here to some extent. "Am I the only one who wants to see this happen" is kind of ambiguous at best.

IA. Fanfic isn't real life, dodgy shit and stuff that would not go down IRL gets written about all the time. I get that not everyone's happy about this, but being denial about it seems kinda silly.

FWIW, 16 is the age of consent in Indiana and given the time period, nobody would've batted an eye. I'm not saying it's right or that this mindset hasn't changed for the better, but back then? Yeah, Billy would've been THE MAN for hitting that.

There are a lot of people today who would say that a male teenager is THE MAN for sleeping with a female teacher. Do you think that's acceptable as well?

For the woman, yes. For Billy, it's unlikely his peers would consider it even a little bit taboo. Again, not saying that's right, but given that this mindset is still very much present today, it was definitely present and far less challenged in the 80s.

He's supposed to be a senior, right? So... it would have played more Mrs. Robinson than Lolita, honestly. It would have been a scandal, not a crime.

This. If he's a senior, it's even possible he's 18, which would eliminate any and all legal questions. To me, the actor comes across as a twenty-something so much that I couldn't really believe him as a school-kid at all.

No horse in this whole race at all, but he's supposed to be sixteen? I watched it assuming he was almost graduating, like, 18ish.

Yeah, no idea why sparrow thinks he is 16.
