I'm still bitter that they cut a bi-Cullen romance in favour of adding more het romances in Dragon Age Inquisition and I couldn't stand either m/m romance option.
Generally, I think they should go back to the playersexual system.

Yeah, agreed. I think it's an interesting idea to portray sexuality, but I prefer the "everyone's bi" model because then you can play the game how you like.

I didn't mind the m/m options, tbh, the female-only male options were worse with the exception of Cullen. But I would've loved to f/f romance Cassandra.

They generally have a weird obsession with making the "knight in shining armour" archetypes -both male and female examples - exclusively straight.

I didn't like the m/m choices either. Not in inquisition or the second game. I don't mind if they have gender restrictions on characters as long as there's more variety. It's annoying that female elves had more options than the other inquisitors though.

You do realize Cullen was one of the exactly two added romances, yeah? If the romances hadn't been added, you wouldn't have had a bi Cullen romance, he just wouldn't have been romanceable at all.

He wasn't though. He'd been planned longer when, at the last second, they decided to put in the completely superfluous Blackwall romance and Solas was also one they decided on last minute.

...Blackwall was a planned romance from the beginning. Which is, among other things, the reason he can be romanced by qunari and dwarves. Because since he was a planned romance from the beginning, they had the time and resources to devote to animating his romance that they didn't have for Cullen's.

Huh. I'm very sure I read that it was a last minute decision to put it in.

DA but it's my understanding as well that Blackwall was an originally planned romance option, and Cullen and Solas were the last minute additions.

I wish I could have romanced Blackwall as a dude. I like Bull and Dorian but much prefer them together. But I ended up really liking the Cassandra romance so I'm glad I picked that route.
