Uh...with anime, you either see it or you don't. Because anime tends to go the stereotype route when it comes to gay characters. So if people you know didn't see it? They were being willfully obtuse.

And there's usually some rather racist stuff in anime, too.

Other country dubs don't always GET the rather crappy cultural thing sin those old Disney movies because our country was so...specific with things. So hard to explain that bit.
