Tea, coffee or hot cocoa assortment in a nice mug? A cozy blanket might be good if your budget can stretch that far. Maybe a small beginner's crafting kit, like crochet needles and some yarn, or aida fabric, needles and some colorful floss for embroidery.

Miniature roses are beautiful, but I understand they can be rather fussy houseplants. Maybe something a bit tougher would be nice:
