I fucking hate 'the game' and I think the people I do know who take it seriously are idiots. I especially hate the ones that argue that just because you're forced to know of its existence, you're playing by default. THE HELL I AM.

Sadly, yes, this is a common thing on the Internet - memes that get repeated over and over and OVER long after they've stopped being clever or amusing.

Some people just try to pretend they're being cool and DEEP by parroting something that may, at some point, have been an interesting thought exercise. Others will jump on any chance to repeat a well-worn phrase in capslock. (These are the same people who cruise f!s comments looking for likely places to insert "CRY MOAR", "YIFF IN HELL", and other such things so they can pretend they haven't been banned from 4chan.)

My advice: Whenever someone goes "YOU JUST LOST THE GAME", pretend they said "LONGCAT IS LONG". In the same way, replace "I JUST LOST THE GAME" with "I CAN HAS CHEEZBURGER?".
