119. Xavin was always male. The fact that his transformations went from skrull male, to earth male to earth female should show that.
It doesn't mean he doesn't love Karolina it's just who he is.
Honestly I feel their relationship is deeply complicated and I really didn't want anyone but Vaughan to cover it, Whedon really made me believe this more, I'm terrified to see what the new series brings...

I think the OP might be referring to how Xavin's female form is supposed to be his "true" form now because it's what he morphed to when he "lost control" of himself in an argument...in which case I understand the OP's annoyance. It oversimplifies something that's more complicated than that.

Exactly.
If he's shifting into female all the time partially for Karolia's sake and partially because it's his default 'disguise' form, then surely it stands to reason rather that he'd eventually do it without thinking rather than as a grand femalification.

I hate people insisting that skrulls don't have a natural gender when we've been seeing that they have for the last... oh, 40 years of continuity or so? As you say, Xavin's relationship with Karolina is very complicated, as he loves her, but she only loves him when he is a her... And while I love Moore, and he's a great writer, I'm afraid that he'll bow to pressure and treat Xavin as a she.
That said, I need a Gert icon. Or a Gert and Chase icon.

Well the only cannonical reference to Skrull's not having gender was Xavin in his first apearence but I'm sure we've all said something made up when we were teenagers to get someone to like us....

When you think about it, their relationship is really confusing due to the conditionalality of her love. I mean fair enough she IS a lesbian but if she really does truly love HER then she should be able to love HIM too. I mean it's a fairly unique relationship in that sense and that's why I feel worried about anyone who didn't create it tackling it.

Oops. I meant the fans' insistence that Skrulls don't have a set gender. I always dismissed Xavin's words as just a way to convince Karolina, just as you say, but I've read a lot of fans going backwards to explain why Skrulls don't/can't have a gender (And always stop and blink when I mention Lyja. For some reason, since she got pregnant, that makes her totally and absolutely female in those same fans's eyes)

I have some faith in Moore. He managed to convey the issues of the love triangle between Katchoo (Lesbian, sometimes bi), Francine (self-proclaimed straight, then turned bi just for love) and David (straight) in SiP, always making it clear that *love* wasn't complicated on itself, but *gender* sure make it complciated (Katchoo self-discovery that she wasn't bi as she always thought but lesbian is heartwarming), but I fear that the shapeshifting issue might make many want to take the easy (Oh, Xavin has no gender) road.
