102) I think your mom is hot.

103) That meme was boring and stupid when it was fresh. I categorically refuse to have anything to do with it. And yes I can refuse to play.

114) Hee. I'm the opposite. I usually avoid canons with overt slash pairing (my imagination tends to be much more exciting in showing how it could work than canon), but Torchwood was where I made the exception.

117) I wish my 6 year old still enjoyed that show, so I'd have an excuse to keep watching it.

125) Rough times are just part of the whole life experience. You won't live with your dad forever, though you might have to wait for some old geezer to die in bed and not be found for 3 days in order to get the crappy studio apartment with no counters in the heart of the bad side of town before you can move out. Or at least that's what me and my hubby had to do. Stay focused on positive -- that's what all our fandom heroes do.

133) I think people who only ship canon pairings have boring unimaginative fantasy lives.

135) Mickey is so a companion.

146) Haven't read that, but some of my favorite writers write young adult and even middle reader novels. There's a lot of talent hidden away in the kids section of the library.

103. No, you can't. If you're aware of it, you're playing. You might not think that you're playing, but you are anyways.

I think it's the brainchild of a bored performance art student, personally.

No, because I don't let other people define what I am doing.

Not really. Just a mildly annoying gotcha, which thankfully has mostly died out.

No you can't.
And it's played based on your awareness of its existence, so by denying playing it, you are de facto playing it.

... nevermind, I'm not going to explain meme mechanics to you.

I ship only canon pairings, and I don't think it's boring or unimaginative. I just think that shipping non-canon pairings -- especially if they get in the way of a canon pairing -- is an insult to the original work. I know my opinion is a very small minority and I don't want to start a losing fight, but I just want to say that you can still have fun if you play things by the book.

You can't insult the canon. Canon has no feelings. Nothing you do as a fan or a writer will impact canon in anyway. However, while you might have fun playing things by the book, you are denying yourself and infinite number of books to play with (some of which may appeal to you more), and benefitting no one for your self-control. You already have the canon pairing there. You can watch the show and see it. You can imagine things that happen between the scenes. But you won't imagine intire plots and story arcs that will bring other people together. You use the canon as a chain anchoring you to the obvious rather than a diving board to launch yourself into what no one has thought before you.

133.) HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.

Someone with an amazing imagination, doesn't need to ship or write Fan-Fiction, because it's boring to them. They create their own from scratch.

Dude... of course we do. I write fanfiction for fun, not because I can't (and don't) write original fiction. Naomi Novak writes fanfiction (when she damn well should be working on the sequel to her best selling series). Shakespeare rewrote popular plays from his era. How many people have written about dracula? Your ability to write using already created characters has nothing to do with how well you write original fiction.

Fan fiction isn't boring -- it's only boring if you don't allow yourself to write or imagine outside what is canon. It's not an either/or thing. And there is no reason at all to do so, unless you can't draw outside the lines.
