not!secret #6: ... exactly how is Nia more flat than any of the other characters in this series? Seriously. :/ Also, no one "has" to ship a slash pairing just because they don't like the girl- it's a matter of preference, and some of us DO do both. Stop being on our side. Stop making us look bad.

Oooh, yeah. XDD They've been pretty good thus far! And actually, I saw someone joking around about them being a couple or something along those lines. It just kinda stuck with me for some reason and now it won't let go! xD

This has been argued in previous posts (since the mass influx of GL secrets came in after mine had already been added to the secret submission post) so I feel like I'm flogging a dead horse here, but Nia was incredibly bland during the "romance" section of the series. Everyone who supports the pairing claims that it's true love and that they're so good together, but I can't see a single bit of chemistry between she and Simon. As kids, they were cute. But we weren't given enough screentime with the two of them to see much romance there. I saw affection, but beyond friendship... ehhh.

I suppose what I meant was not that Nia herself was flat as cardboard, but the romance was. It felt too cookie-cutter, like they were put together in the end because it was expected. It's a manly-man series, and naturally the hero can't be taking it up the butt, right? No, no, he has to get the girl. (Even though he sort of doesn't.)

I support Kamina/Simon not out of neccessity but because I see a much stronger connection between the two, and I like to think it could have progressed in time if Kamina had lived. But if they had done a better job portraying Simon and Nia as a romantic couple, maybe I would have shipped them instead. Who knows? But I can't change how I feel.

(lol tr;dr. I would have loved to explain it all in the secret itself but that's all the response I'd have gotten if I had.)

Ahhh, see, that makes much more sense. I do support Simon/Nia and don't think it was that flat- it was just weirdness in their personalities that made strong romantic overtures on either of their parts pretty impossible, and I can see neither of them showing strong sexual attraction except in very private situations- but I can feel where you're coming from. I do indeed love Kamina and Simon's relationship and connection- hell, I really love Simon and Viral's relationship and connection- I think I'm just one of those people who could ship pretty much anything anyway. XD

I just... kind of boggle at the people who, because she's sweet and innocent and doesn't really understand things, say that Nia has no personality. That is a personality, even if it isn't loud and badass like everyone else. People have a major hate-on for sweet female characters, I find. ;;

The only time I felt any kind of hate for Nia was in episode 12, because they turned her into this perfect Mary Sue and it was irritating as hell. I sort of ship Simon/Nia as a secondary pairing, but not my first choice by far, simply because lovers need a good mix of affection and sexual attraction for me to support them - if they're just going to be cute and fuzzy together, why not just be friends? I honestly cannot see them in bed together at all. And at the risk of sounding like a complete perv, I really need that aspect of my ship. Simon/Nia is too innocent and friendshippy for me to take it seriously.

She does have a personality, though - she just... kinda loses it in the second half. And I know the whole Anti-Spiral messenger bit didn't give her much chance to show it off, but I dunno. I would have liked to see more of how they developed as a couple before they got married and she died. It just makes so sense to me.

Another part of it may be that I can't ship Kamina with anyone but Simon and I hate to think of him as being alone, ._.; (needz moar Kittan/Yoko.)

I can understand this- haha, I still have ships where I just cannot see them in bed together (Syaoran/Sakura for one thing, asjahkjhfsa OTP like whoa but um can not see do not make me seeee), but for the most part I do really like sexual aspects mixed in with emotional in a relationship. It does add another level to the relationship, which is also why I enjoy shipping people who are only friends/enemies/etc in canon! I love thinking about how it would change the way they interact, even a little.

Yeah, I get that- the second half, I could still see her personality? But things happened so fast that it was hard to see how they had developed together. I love the pairing mainly because I love Nia, and she did love Simon, and Simon obviously thought the world of her. But I agree other things can have more interesting fic. XD

Haha, I love Kittan/Yoko! But I do also like Kamina/Yoko. ... I sorta feel bad because I want more Kittan period and yet I have a weird love for like... Yoko/Kamina/Viral/Simon/Nia (probably not all in that order XD) as this kind of interconnected family unit of love. Also, needz moar Leeron. Period. XD;

I have yet to see any kind of Simon-with-Viral pairing support that I can actually agree with, though that might be me shying away from the fandom too much. I have some rather shameless doujinshi with the two of them but beyond the fact that they look shiny together... why? (I'm not criticizing the pairing, I'm genuinely curious now)

I love him. I don't even know why. I just do. XD

It's been way too long since I've seen the series, I did used to have a bit more detailed/comprehensive reasoning? I just remember that I really, really love the way they interact, the way that Simon (and the rest of things, yes, but SIMON) changed Viral's mind about so much, and the kind of epic partnership they sorta developed. I think it may be kinda shameless for me, too, but I love their relationship and I flail like a loon at the "WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK WE ARE?!" tandem speech.

The nice thing about Nia is that she's not some selfish bitch like a lot of anime girls are portrayed as. If Simon genuinely wanted her to share him with other people, she'd probably be cool and curious about it, ._.

M-maybe he could have fuzzy tiem with Nia and magical rutting with his manly partners? DUAL FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS? (My drill is one that will ~~penetrate~~- okay I really shouldn't finish that one.)

I'm not always deep either, so I hear you there. I whore out characters in different pairings like nothing else sometimes.

Well, I don't know about "selfish bitch"- it's a fact that people do mostly think in terms of exclusive relationships, though I agree that the idea of being jealous over a romantic/sexual relationship is... just about as sense-making as the idea of a kid being jealous because they're not the only child in the family anymore, but I digress. Nia would probably take that excellently, and I can see her and Simon even being intimate in warm fuzzy lovemaking ways, but I can definitely see her not minding at all if Simon was attracted to other people. Unfortunately, given Simon's reaction after losing her, it seems like he might be retardedly resistant against acting on any impulses toward anyone else, so I'd be hella interested in seeing this done in a really thought-out manner sometime. 83

I tend to pick a favourite character and whore them out. Unfortunately I tend to OTP the favourite (the one who survives) with the ones that die or disappear. -_- I have no luck, apparently.

I can get behind serious discussion and theories and stuff, but when people start getting elite and going "UR DOIN IT WRONG" to someone else in the fandom because they happen to ship a pairing not everyone likes (or to ship/not ship at all), things are getting a little out of control. Mergh.

I adore theories and serious discussions about the series itself, but wambulance bitchfights about so-and-so-is-better-and-u-suk-lol tend to deteriorate into the "ugh make it die" territory. (God I'm so coherent, look at me here) I may dislike Simon/Nia but I'm not going to say people are wrong for shipping it, just that in my mind, the pairing is wrong. (Or that it's right for the wrong reasons? Either way...)

I think this totally needs to happen. GL has such glorious potential. I may need to look into making this reality. (Or finding someone to do it for me ahaha)
