I read the full series as a child and I remember enjoying it. But I can't for the life of me remember a single thing about it now as an adult. It feels a little weird with everyone so excited about the movie because they read the book as a child and it apparently didn't make enough of an impression on me when I read it to imprint anything. I think the only thing I do remember is the cover had a blue centaur with wings for arms on it. Which.... I suppose is one impression that's stuck through childhood after all but probably not the one the author was going for or the movie execs are counting on to sell their series to me. I'm kind of looking forward to the movie just to see how much of it jars whatever it was I read as a child into my memory and how much of it comes across as completely new and unexpected when I watch it.
