I'm not saying it would become canon, I'm just saying as an old-school slasher that scene read like it was slash fanservice. And for a team that's well aware of shipping culture, there's an excellent chance they put it in there on purpose knowing slash fans would pick up on it.

I mean I'm pretty sure no LGBT pairing is going to become canon because the team is subject to the Japanese parent company restrictions on what they can and can't do, so neither Sheith nor Klance ever had a chance of becoming canon. I think they just wanted to encourage fan shipping and didn't realize it would get so toxic.
