Isn't Zashiki-Warashi supposed to be sort of agender? I mean, they present as female but I think I remember reading some kind of lore somewhere that said they weren't supposed to have a specific gender.

I thought they were hinting she was trans?

In the folklore, zashiki warashi are usually young boys, so... (Or maybe I'm misreading translated text.)

Clamp did the "sexless androgynous" characters a lot and they almost always got translated as female because it's so much easier to avoid specific pronouns altogether in Japanese while doing it in translation is much more difficult and awkward.
