What kind of cookies are you making? And how many? Hopefully it doesn't snow so you can go out. What is a medieval Christmas Market though? Will you get the plague? D:

We're planning on 6-7 different kinds this year. Made some hazelnut/chocolate/cinnamon spheres today and have the dough for a traditional Northern German recipe called Heidesand (a kind of shortbread with brown butter) in the fridge. I still want to do some plain butter cookies (mostly for tradition), macaroons, walnut-rum cookies with apricot jam, honey cake and probably something with red jam, not quite decided what we'll do with that. We usually get two to three baking sheets worth of cookies per recipe.

The Christmas market is at a very pretty 13th century castle and instead of all the usual modern Christmas market kitsch, the stalls have hot mead and traditional arts and crafts and it has generally more medieval themed entertainment and a great atmosphere. A lot of people in really nice costumes as well, so that's always fun (and amusingly enough it's much warmer in costume than in modern clothes even though it's usually very cold there because the castle is not a fairly steep hill).

That is a lot of cookies. I will probably be baking some too but not quite that many!

Glad the market doesn't include the plague. ;)

Yeah, it's a lot but they get eaten pretty quickly once my brother, uncle and father get their hands on them over the holidays.

... well I hope there's no plague. You can never be entirely sure though - I just read that there is a new surge of tuberculosis in my country, maybe the plague is lurking just around the corner...
