Oh my god, Farthing Wood broke me as a kid. Those poor hedgehogs trying to cross the road.

And it's really weird you mention Felidae because my partner just started reading the book two days ago. He's a huge cat lover so I think his mum bought it for him just because it was cat-related. I've warned him how screwed up and disturbing it is but he doesn't seem to believe me. :>

The movie is a certain kind of gruesome, with all the lovingly animated blood and gore...
I actually liked that book back when I read it. Do yourselves a favour though and don't read up on the author.
