Man, I've loved Spiderweb Software since Exile, but I stopped playing midway through Geneforge 2. The gameplay wasn't balanced in favor of the character class I chose so every battle was extremely difficult to outright impossible and I just never bothered restarting. I always wondered how the series ended up... Sorry you didn't like it.

Fellow SA goon?

Consider the later games as noncanon (in a way) if you like. Sometimes the mindset of the author can vastly change from year to year. What they truly believed in one game can be soon contradicted and undone the next. I'm going to assume that when they were writing the first game they truly meant there to be a happy ending though.
