(Anonymous) 2017-12-11 12:34 am (UTC)(link)If they are spared they often go on to become 'trickster' like characters who are alternatively 'good' or 'bad' as the narrative demands, e.g. Loki. They are rarely fully redeemed and if they are the redemption must be a heavy blow.
None of these factors really apply to how the narrative treats Steve. Even though he is exiled this is treated as 'good character runs from world gone mad that is unfairly persecuting him', rather than just punishment for his actions.
