Yeah, given that Peter Rabbit predates Animal House by 75 years, I really have no idea what's going on in the trailer. (And if you really wanted to do animated furry Animal House, just do animated furry Animal House.)

In the butt? (Sorry couldn't resist, but that catchphrase is still funnier than anything in the Peter Rabbit or Ferdinand trailers.)

Honestly, I thought that like 2 seconds after hitting post XD
And yeah, definitely funnier than the trailer. What a low bar. It also annoys me because the Peter Rabbit books are so... charming. This isn't charming.

I wasn't a Beatrix Potter person, so I'm not going to go "muh childhood!" over this. But I think what's really lacking in these attempts to make edgy versions of children's classics are honesty and sincerity. Miyazaki films feel like they're talking with the audience. Disney/Pixar can have a similar feel. This feels like marketing at the audience.

I liked some of the other Beatrix Potter stories much more than Peter Rabbit, specifically. I don't mind them reimagining it, but like you said, there's just no heart to it.
To me, this just feels nothing like Beatrix Potter, but more like whatever this zeitgeist is supposed to be dressed up in a little Peter Rabbit jacket. It's also strange because I remember the books being for a very young age - so why is this movie looking like it should be marketed to older? I don't get it.
