I haven't seen it yet but my expectations of the MCU movies are very low after Age of Ultron and Civil War, so I I'll probably be okay with it as long as it's not horrible.

Crewcut Thor looks good, at least.

SA. (I'd have loved to see him with braided pigtails in hair and beard too.)

Agreed. I wish they had cut Loki's hair at least a bit shorter as well.

I just want this look to happen. Either that or give him a wig that actually looks like it's been washed and cleaned. :|

Right? That is what my sister said about his hair. It look almost matted.

It just seems so out of character for Loki. He's a fancy boy who wears nice clothes, I'm sure he washes his hair regularly.

I find it weird, too. I kept wondering if they were going for some kind of greasy-outcast-Snape look, which makes no sense for the character. They at least could have done a better job on the texture/apparent cleanliness. A slightly lighter shade - still very dark but not flat black - might have helped, too. I definitely would have preferred it shorter, as well.

I will admit, he looked good. I prefer him with long hair still, but I did still find him attractive in this. The facial hair helped.

On the one hand, I'm excited for Infinity War, and on the other I'm cautious in my excitement, because that is a LOT of characters and there's a bunch I'm just not that interested in. I'm skeptical as to how much the movie will focus on the characters I care about vs. the ones I don't, what it will do with the characters I care about, and whether there will even be a plot in there somewhere.

I really loved Ragnarok, though! I had no interest in Thor or Loki or Bruce before this movie and now they have been transferred over to the list of characters I care about.

Ragnarok was awesome! I never really cared about Thor, and was meh on Hulk, but the movie helped me love them. Also Valkyrie was good and they didn't cram a love story in, which was also good.
I still don't like Loki, but he was a good foil to Thor this time.

Ragnarok's actually made me less excited for Infinity War. Thor and Loki, my two favorite characters in the MCU, seem to finally be in a good place with each other and I just know Infinity War is gonna fuck that up. I just want those dumb Norse fucks to be bros again!

I've heard almost nothing but glowing praise for this film, so I'm kind of excited to see it too

As someone who liked the first Thor movie, never saw the second (but do kinda want to, just haven't gotten around to it), and care nothing for the Avengers, can I get away with watching this and enjoying it? I keep hearing it's good so now I'm curious. xD I did like the Hulk movie way back when too.

Since you're already interested in seeing the second Thor, I'd say go ahead and watch that one before you watch Ragnarok. It's decent enough. As for AoU, all you really need to know is that it ends with the Hulk headed to space and Thor away from Earth/Asgard looking for the Infinity Stones.

Ah, okay! Thank you! =D

I saw the first Thor movie and Doctor Strange, but not the second or Ultron, and I still found this to be a hella lot of fun. Yes, perhaps there were a few references that flew past me (something with Natasha and Banner?) but I didn't feel lost.

(Anonymous) 2017-12-12 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Junee largely covered it and the only other thing I can think of that might be confusing is the "Hey big guy, sun's getting low" thing Thor tries to use to calm the Hulk, which was something Natasha used in Ultron to calm him. It's not a plot point in this movie or anything, just the kind of thing where you might be asking yourself "Why does Thor keep saying that?" Otherwise, I can't think of anything essential out of Ultron. If you're going to watch The Dark World, then that's covered, and you don't need to have seen Doctor Strange.

I've overall still enjoyed the MCU but after Ultron disappointed me (in part my own fault for being way overhyped) I did sometimes wonder if I was watching out of a sense of loyalty. Well...Ragnarok has made me feel like I'm in 2012 again as I'm actually participating in fandom discussions etc. I kind of fell off that particular train for a while.

I'm excited for Infinity War now too whereas a year ago I could take or leave it. I just hope the huge cast list doesn't do it a disservice. Also Marvel: don't ruin my good vibes over Thor and Loki after Ragnarok - though it's not looking good :(

Also quite looking forward to Black Panther. It looks good and T'Challa was probably one of the few things I really liked about Civil War.

....but the next Avengers will be nothing like Thor:Ragnarock...?
