Sorry to ask again, but would you consider this to be over the top? I sometimes get excited about beautiful things, but I don't want to be creepy.

"Wow, may I ask how long it took to get your hair done like that?" (Hair was similar to the above, but smaller twists & the twists had a golden tone running through them.)

"4(?) hours."

"That's a long time, but your hair looks really amazing! I've seen jewelry made of like these twisted coils of gold, and that's what you're hair looks like!"

"Thank you."

I ask because I had a boss tell me I wasn't allowed to compliment people on their hair, esp. Black women because it could come across as a microaggression. If that's true, I want to know, and I'll stop, but she was also white...
