I couldn't get into Brotherhood. I loved the first series so much, there was something so beautiful, deep, and poignant about it that just didn't feel replicated in the remake (though in fairness, I didn't get too far before I gave up). The music was beautiful (the Russian Brothers song, arghhh my heart), the art was gorgeous, just loved everything about it. And for the most part, I loved Shamballa a lot, too. I haven't watched it in years, not sure if the Nazi stuff holds up or is cringey or not, but Mustang looked cool with the eyepatch and Ed looked awesome grown up. Plus, human Al, so cute.

Assuming you haven't read the manga, you reeeeally missed out on some great stuff endgame in the series. I liked the old show too, but boy is the conclusion stupid compared to the manga plot.

Well, I liked the original anime's conclusion a lot, so meh?

Personally, I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I'd disagree. There were notable problems with 2003's ending and Shamballa, but I think Father was a weak villain and the ending of Brotherhood had enough issues to really disappoint me when I first saw it.

The only thing that makes me not regret watching FMA:B was Wrath. I enjoyed every scene he was in, and he was definitely a lot more entertaining than his 2003 counterpart.

Honestly, I've read/watched all versions of this thing, my favorite (and the most atmospheric, angsty -- cause that's my cup of tea) is hands down the first series.

It's true that the 2003 anime kind of derailed, but I didn't like how the manga ended up either. The manga derailed in a different way for me, but ultimately, I was far unhappier about it than about the 2003 anime. And the homunculi ended up being far less interesting, imo.

My favorite 2003 character, Lust, was iced right away in the remake so no thank you. Lol
