Wow. That is a whole lot of hate.

Apparently this movie is a giant mess. And what they've done with Luke...he's not even the same character anymore. None of who he was is there anymore.

I think that pisses me off more so than the Rey Random crap.

Luke was always my favorite...

Hmmm. Most of the reviews I've read have been really positive. But if they really did ruin Luke, I'll be mad. He's one of my favorites too.

Yeah, I would stay away from the tumblr crowd. They're very over-the-top currently (both in hate and joy depending on which side you're on), and few have even seen the movie. From the more nuanced places I've gone, it sounds like the kind of thing where you really will have to make up your own mind about whether the execution of the plot points works for you or not because that's what it generally comes down to.

Except for Finn. I'm seeing a fairly universal disappointment in his side-quest and how it doesn't feel necessary. But I also see mostly praise for JB and KMT's acting.

Yup. Other than that place, I've seen mostly positive reviews. I'm still excited. And the other link makes the plot sound interesting to me, though I'm still a bit concerned over whether they've written Luke properly.

I'm seeing the same. It sounds like Luke has a crisis of faith but that he regains his faith in the end. I've heard one reviewer say that initially they were afraid that it was just going to be Mark Hamill doing a MH impersonation but then something happened and the reviewer was like "that's Luke!" and he was very happy.

So, definitely wait and see for me. I'm cautiously optimistic but glad I read the spoilers so I'm prepared for Luke to be a bit grumpy at first.

I'm totally fine with that. If he stayed that way I might have a problem, but if he goes back to being the Luke I know and love, then a crisis of faith is an interesting storyline.

I would say not just Tumblr crowd. Seriously, what is your beef here? That we're disappointed that Rian can't write a movie for shit? And that Rey is unrecognizable? And plot point for Kylo?

Fuck that noise.

Uh, I don't care who likes or doesn't like it. I haven't seen it, so I can't form my opinion yet, but I'm optimistic right now. It just bugs me when people portray their opinion as fact. And when people are looking for spoilers, they are probably looking for a list of spoilers, not a website of people hating on the movie they are excited to see.

Yes, this, basically. I'm the anon who requested spoilers above and I was hoping for someone who actually saw the movie, not a bunch of "I read that it sucks here is a link to a OTT hate tumblr that keeps insulting actors who were doing their jobs".
Right now, even though there is a lot of "Reylo isn't canon", plenty of those comments on the linked tumblr still read a whole lot like there is lots of Reylo setup/potential/content and now I'm just confused.

Never said those were lies, idk where you get that from. I dislike the way the owner of that Tumblr keeps shitting all over the actors as if, for example Adam Driver, wrote the role himself and is to blame for everything as well. That's dumb as shit.
And you need to calm your fits.

This is also my problem here. I am sympathetic to people who had their favorite character or pairing sunk. But I don't like how it's being presented as if this film is absolute garbage for everyone. I just wanted to temper that for people who are undecided on seeing the movie and might actually enjoy it.

I'm also sensitive because of how much really vile stuff has been thrown at the director and the actors over what is just a sci-fi fantasy flick. No one deserves that.

This movie is getting high praise except from idiots on Tumblr whose favorite pairings were not validated.

I don't have beef? I'm just sharing the different opinion that I've seen. I'm not arguing that you've seen people disappointed in the movie. I'm just saying that I've seen quite a few people who have seen the film and were very pleased.

The only negative I've seen is about Finn's side-quest and Leia's Superman thing looking a little cheesy. Other than that, Kylo and Rey have gotten a lot of praise. So has Luke and MH.
