It happened and unless the movie crosses over into defamation, it's fair game. And just because someone 'paid' doesn't mean people can't be interested - you've never watched anything about anyone else who ended up in jail for committing a crime (like Heavenly Creatures, The Deliberate Stranger, Catch Me If You Can, Foxcatcher, etc.)?

Also, part of the reason real-life dramatizations get made is that they tend to get watched or get awards or both. Up for awards in various categories for Golden Globes 2018 are Dunkirk, The Post, The Disaster Artist, The Greatest Showman, I, Tonya, Molly's Game, Darkest Hour, All the Money in the World, Battle of the Sexes, Victoria & Abdul, The Crown, The Wizard of Lies, and Feud: Bette and Joan.
